Additional Off-Leash Parks in Expansion Areas

As the largest city in the fastest growing county in California, Roseville gains hundreds of new families each month.  And about one-third of these families have at least one dog.  As the city grows it is important that the dog parks grow as well.

Roseville presently has one dog park, Marco Dog Park.  This park was opened in 1997 and at the time was an usual amenity for a city to have.  A second dog park has been in the city's general plan since 1997 but ran into some opposition from neighbors.  The site for Bear Dog Park was moved to Mahany Park, where it will be a year round dog park.

The City has recently approved a large expansion area on the city's western border.  This area, called the West Roseville Specific Plan area (WRSP), will eventually add about 25,000 new residents as well as commercial and industrial uses.  More information on the plan is here.

RDOG approached the City and the developers of this new community.  RDOG was able to get two new dog parks written into the general plan.  One will be more of a neighbor hood dog park, and the other one will be within Fiddyment Park.
